Jeff Weaver
Jeff Weaver has been pursuing artistic endeavors of one form or another throughout his life. Born in 1953, he has been drawing and painting waterfront scenes along the coast of Massachusetts since the 1960s. After attending the Museum School in Boston, he took up residence in Gloucester, MA, where he has become a chronicler of the working waterfront and its environs. While his chosen subject matter varies widely, from street scenes to lighthouses, he has found that depicting the Gloucester fisherman of times past to be a fitting outlet for his creative interests.
The North Atlantic Ocean has been a place of much human drama over the past few centuries played out in large part by the schooners and dory fishermen of Gloucester. In Weaver’s paintings he tries to convey some of this dramatic activity through composition and design while conscious of the need to make the work viable as an artistic statement to the viewer. He is an award winning painter, a member of the Rockport Art Association, North Shore Art Association, Ogunquit Art Association and the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport. His paintings hang proudly in many prominent art collections throughout the United States, including the permanent collection of the Cape Ann Historical Association, Gloucester, MA.
